What Are Wireless IO Modules
Think of wireless IO modules as the bridge between your sensors, actuators, and control systems—just without all those cables. These devices collect data from the field (like temperature readings, pressure levels, or switch states) and transmit it wirelessly to your PLC, SCADA system, or cloud platform.
Instead of running conduit and pulling wire across your facility, you mount a module near your equipment, configure it, and you're basically done. It's that straightforward.
Wi-Fi Module-Wi-Fi IO Module support a wide range of field signals including current, voltage, thermistor, thermocouple, RTD, and strain gauge with many protocols and interfaces.

Choosing the Right Wifi IO Module for Your Application
Modern WiFi IO modules with Ethernet connectivity bridge easily into existing automation networks. They show up as standard IP devices that your SCADA software, PLC, or HMI can poll using Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, or other industrial protocols.
The dual-band WiFi just handles the physical layer—getting data from the module to your network. Your control system doesn't care whether it came via 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
Smart Home Automation Projects
People are using WiFi relay modules to automate everything from lighting systems to HVAC controls. You can create schedules, trigger actions based on sensor readings, or control devices with voice commands through integration with platforms like Home Assistant or Google Home.
Industrial Monitoring and Control
Factories and warehouses deploy remote IO modules over WiFi to monitor production lines, track environmental conditions, and control machinery without running expensive cable infrastructure. These wireless control modules offer real-time data logging and instant alerts when issues arise.
Greenhouse and Agriculture Automation
Growers use WiFi connected IO devices to manage irrigation systems, monitor soil moisture, control ventilation, and adjust lighting – all accessible remotely through a simple web dashboard.
Security and Access Control
From automated gate controllers to smart door locks, WiFi digital input output modules provide the connectivity needed for modern security systems that you can monitor and control from anywhere.
Key Features to Look For
Number of channels
How many inputs and outputs do you need? Common configurations include 4-channel, 8-channel, or 16-channel WiFi IO modules
Input types
Digital inputs for switches and sensors, analog inputs for variable readings like temperature or voltage
Power requirements
Does it need external power, or can it run on batteries?
Output capabilities
Relay outputs for high-power devices, digital outputs for LEDs and logic circuits
Protocols supported
Look for modules supporting MQTT, HTTP API, Modbus TCP, or other standard communication protocols
The Future of WiFi IO Technology
We're seeing exciting developments in this space – lower power consumption allowing for battery-operated wireless IO modules, improved range with WiFi 6 support, and better integration with AI and machine learning for predictive automation.
Whether you're a hobbyist experimenting with home automation or an engineer deploying industrial controls, WiFi input output modules offer an accessible and cost-effective way to bring intelligence and connectivity to your projects. The key is choosing the right module for your specific needs and taking the time to set it up properly.

A-1212
4ai 2di 2ao 2do Wi-Fi Remote I/O Module with Modbus RTU
The WF-2026 is a multifunction module with Wi-Fi interface that includes 4 analog input channels, 2 analog output channels, 2 digital input
channels and 2 digital output channels. It provides a programmable input
range on all analog input (+/-150 mV, +/-500 mV, +/-1 V, +/-5 V, +/-10
V, +/-20 mA or 0 ~ +20 mA) and output range on all analog output (12-bit
at +/-5 V, +/-10 V, 0 ~ +20 mA or +4 ~ +20 mA). Each analog input and
output channel can be configured for an individual range and provides a
high overvoltage protection of 240 Vrms. Analog Input and output can be
jumper selectable as either voltage or current. With the popularity of
802.11 network infrastructure, the A-1212 makes an easy way to
incorporate wireless connectivity into monitoring and control systems.
The A-1212 also supports Modbus/TCP and UDP protocols and the network
encryption configuration, which makes perfect integration to SCADA
